Zach is one month old today (side note: my Granny/Jennifer and Zach's "Great Granny" is 80!) ... he is the perfect little addition to our family! He loves his big sister and Jennifer loves entertaining him. He's doing a lot of sleeping and eating these days, but his awake and alert time seems to be getting longer and longer every day - he really likes being outside and looking around. He was playing on the floor this morning and smiling!

Zach had his 2 week check-up yesterday and weighed in at 8 pounds exactly and 20 inches long. Jennifer was 8 pounds and 20 1/2 inches when she was born so if he would have waited until his due date to make his appearance I'm guessing he would have been 8 pounds at birth. So far he's a great sleeper and eater, and for the most part is a pretty easy going baby! He's the perfect addition to our family and big sis loves to hold him and give him plenty of hugs and kisses!

On December 7th at 8:10am we welcomed baby Zachary Mitchell! He weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. We're all so excited and Jennifer has been a great big sister!

Phil and I can't believe our baby girl is 3 years old today! She and I got to spend the whole day together - she woke up to a birthday surprise in the backyard, a brand new playhouse that her wonderful dad built the night before : ) She spent all morning outside playing in the backyard ... 2 1/2 hours to be exact.

Jennifer loves to help me cook so we made blueberry pancakes for breakfast and then tonight she helped me make no-bake brownies for her birthday dessert! Her favorite part was eating the brownie mix and sprinkles (to be honest, that was my favorite part, too!).

It was a great day, we're so proud of our little princess!

Jennifer is starting preschool in just a couple weeks, and as an introduction her school requires all newbies to attend one week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) of summer camp ... here she is on her first day! As you can tell, she was less than thrilled to pose for me, and once we got to her class it was like I didn't even exist! She was so excited about going to school today - she walked right over to the play-doh, started working and wasn't phased at all when I said goodbye! She's been saying "let's go to school" since she woke up this morning!

I finally joined a mom's group here in Apex and Jennifer and I went to our first play date this week. She had a lot of fun with her new friends and I enjoyed meeting some new people too! We continued our vacation in Tampa where Jennifer got to meet her cousins and Aunt Belinda and Uncle Gene (Phil got to meet them for the first time, too!) and spend lots of time with Great Granny! We went to the Tampa Bay Aquarium and had a lot of fun just hanging out! We're hoping they make a trip to the lake house this summer so we can see them again soon! It was hard to say good-bye.

We just got back last night from a wonderful vacation! We got to see so much family and Jennifer had a great time playing with all of her cousins, aunts, and uncles that she hasn't seen since she was a baby! Our first stop was Boca Raton for Ben's Bar Mitzvah! Jennifer's friend Emma spent the night last night and the girls had so much fun!! It was Jennifer's first sleepover and when Emma left this morning Jennifer said "again!" They dressed up in princess dresses, cooked at Jennifer's kitchen, played in the tent, baked chocolate chip cookies, jumped on the bed and watched a little bit of Beauty and the Beast. This morning we all had pancakes and belgian waffles, played with Amae and watched some Oswald. It was a lot of fun and Jennifer can't wait to play with Emma again!

In my usual form I managed to stretch Halloween out over the entire weekend ; ) Friday we went to Little Gym's Halloween party, Saturday night we went trick or treating at the shops in downtown Apex, and Sunday night Jennifer met up with her friends to officially go trick or treating! She loved it! As you can see from the pictures, Saturday night required a different costume, but all in all Jennifer had a wonderful Halloween weekend!!

We had a nice, loooong weekend - it was restful, relaxing, and more importantly, fun! We headed to the NC Zoo Friday morning ... it was packed but we still had a great time. Jennifer's favorite part was the carousel that we rode 4 times. Then, after the zoo, it was off to the lake house!
Jennifer got to ride in the boat for the first time, turns out she looooooves it! She especially loved it when Phil held her up while we were riding down the lake - she even started saying "hit it" when she wanted Papa to stop talking and make the boat go fast!
Sunday Jennifer had a basket waiting for her from the Easter Bunny. She's decided that the Easter Bunny is her new favorite person because he leaves jelly beans. It was a great weekend and we can't wait to go back to the lake house!!

This big smile has been a rare occurrence the past few weeks ... Jennifer has been sick, sick, sick!! She got over one cold and just two days later came down with another cold, and they seem to stick around forever. She's still fighting this last cold, along with cutting some big molars. Needless to say we've all been running off of very little sleep the last few weeks - but we're lucky to be back in North Carolina close to family because we've had a lot of help : )

Auntie Katherine was in town this past weekend and Jennifer got to meet her for the very first time!! Auntie Lauryn came into town as well, and Auntie Lisa came over with baby Liam ... It had been almost 2 years since Katherine, Lauryn, Lisa and I had all been together so we took advantage of Katherine's short trip to have some much needed girl time ... hopefully it won't be so long until we're all together again!

Jennifer, Phil, and I enjoyed our first Christmas back in North Carolina! Jennifer had lots of fun opening all her presents Christmas morning ... although once she opened up a new pack of crayons she had to take a little coloring break! Crayons are by far her favorite thing right now. Phil and I hosted Christmas morning at our new house ... we had brunch complete with pumpkin spice lattes (homemade!) and mimosas. Even though we still have a lot of boxes to unpack, it was so nice being able to have everyone over to our place!
There are many more Christmas pictures to come, we're going to be working on unpacking and setting up the office tomorrow and once we get the desktop set up it'll be a million times easier for us to upload our pictures. For some reason our camera and my laptop don't get along. I'm really going to try to get back on track with posting lots of pictures on the blog again in the New Year!

We have so much to be thankful for this year! While we were proud that Phil served the country for the last four years in the Air Force, we're thankful that his time in service has come to an end and we have moved back to North Carolina, much closer to family! We're so thankful to have such wonderful family and friends in our lives. And, last but not least, we're thankful to have so many willing helpers in the large task of painting our new house ; )

Jennifer had a super fun Halloween! This year she was a puppy dog ... she absolutely loves dogs! Phil and I lost our 'property virginity'!! Phil is still in Tucson and has yet to see it other than in pictures, but I know he's going to love it! Jennifer and I are officially Carolina girls! She's having a lot of fun, this is a video of her playing at Kelly Road Park near our new house ... but we sure do miss Phil!! We can't wait for him to join us here on the east coast!

We celebrated Jennifer's Nana's birthday by going to the Tohono Chul Park Tea Room! We had a lot of fun and made a little video while we were there since our camera ran out of batteries first thing. It was a really nice day and we loved having afternoon tea and walking through the gardens and shops!

We took Jennifer to the splash pad this afternoon and she had tons of fun!! We've been getting out and about a lot more now that the weather has cooled off a bit (it's only in the low 90s today!) Also, Phil got promoted to Staff Sargent!

We celebrated Jennifer's first birthday this afternoon and everyone had a lot of fun! It was great to get to celebrate with Nana, Papa, Gramma, Grampa, Auntie Amber, cousins Dylan and Hayden, and a couple of Jennifer's friends. Jennifer has been friends with Abbie and Libby since they were little babies, so it was cute to see the three of them together! Jennifer is the last of the three to turn one ... I can't believe she'll officially be one in just a couple more days!

It took exactly one day with Grampa and she was walking all over the place!! There's no stopping her now! She loves showing off to Gramma and Grampa and she can't wait to show her new tricks to Nana and Papa, too.

Today was Jennifer's last Movers and Shakers class ... I was super sad because we will probably be moved back to NC before the next session starts! Hopefully we'll be able to find something like this for us to do together in Cary.
