On the move!

Even though Zach isn't doing the traditional crawling, he's all over! Fortunately, since he's scooting around he's not very fast, but he is pretty sneaky about it... and he's trying to pull up already! He hasn't been successful yet, but I think it's only a matter of time.
Zach was sick last week and super pitiful, but he's back to his happy little self again. Jennifer starts preschool again next week and is excited about her 4/5 classroom! Until then, we're enjoying our last week of summer break!

Happy 4th Birthday, Jennifer Paige*

Our baby girl is four years old!! We had a wonderful time celebrating! Jennifer is really into Wonder Woman at the moment, so we had a super hero theme party at BounceU with her friends from preschool. I thought I was being funny when I set up for someone from BounceU to dress up as Spiderman and come to the party ... but that didn't go over very well and we had to ask Spiderman to leave on account of Jennifer being absolutely terrified of him! Once Spiderman was gone, Jennifer had a great time at her party.

Jennifer has grown into a funny, sweet, beautiful little girl ... we love you, Jennifer Paige!

8 months old!

Zach was eight months old yesterday! I can't believe how fast his first year is going by! He's a sweet baby boy and his adorable smiles and constant chatter keep us thinking that we've got one outgoing boy on our hands. He has taught himself to get around by scooting on his little butt while sitting up - he doesn't go too far, but he's able to move around the family room from toy to toy just fine. He's always talking in baby gibberish and loves playing with his toys ... although he gets especially excited when he's allowed to play with one of big sister's toys! He's become a good eater and likes feeding himself - which means he's also a very messy eater.

He's growing so fast, I'm ready for time to slow down - can't believe Jennifer will be four in just a few days!

Swimming lessons

Jennifer is not *that* kid, you know the type of kid that runs and jumps into the pool, kicking and splashing like a fish.... But she's been doing so well in her swimming lessons, we're really impressed! She put her face in the water on the first day (something she never does for us) and always tries everything that her instructor asks her to try! We'll definitely be continuing lessons at Triangle Aquatic Center, and since it's an indoor pool she can keep swimming year round!

Summer time!

We've been staying busy and enjoying our summer so far! Jennifer's been getting together with friends, going to some fun summer camps at her preschool, Little Gym, Science Safari and the History Museum, she started soccer practice and swimming lessons! It sounds like a lot, but we've also had plenty of time to just hang around the house and relax too. Zach is loving all the different food he gets to eat now, loves playing and watching his big sister, and is getting super close to crawling! Phil's been really bust at work, but once things slow down for him a bit we hope to make it to the beach... hopefully we can fund a weekend to head out when it's not 100+ degrees out!

4th of July at the lake

This post is way overdue! We had such a great 4th of July at the lake house- Phil had some time off and we got to spend three days relaxing and hanging out with Jennifer and Zach's Nana, Papa, Auntie Amber and cousins Dylan and Hayden! We all got to take a turn on the "water couch," we watched fireworks on the lake, and took the boat to the marina for ice cream (where we were greeted with true southern hospitality).

We all had so much fun on the boat and hanging out, we can't wait for the Forwalk family to come back again next year!
